Finally the band have º ³ ³º released a live DVD to answer all the fan’s º ³ ³º questions - ‘can they really do that live’? º ³ ³º º ³ ³º Dragonforce finally have released a long-awaited º ³ ³º DVD to prove their worth to doubters who have º ³ ³º said time and time again that Dragonforce cannot º ³ ³º replicate live what they do on record. , the º ³ ³º band suffered a few misfortunes with their sound º ³ ³º on their peak ‘Inhuman Rampage‘ tour nearly 10 º ³ ³º years ago, but the band have exponentially º ³ ³º developed to be one of the most entertaining and º ³ ³º energetic live acts in metal. The band decided º ³ ³º to record their big stage Japan show at the Loud º ³ ³º Park Festival in Saitama last year, whilst º ³ ³º intermittently showing the lives of the band off º ³ ³º stage in one neat little visual package. º ³ ³º º ³ ³º Bands always say that Japan is one of the best º ³ ³º places to play live, and one can understand with º ³ ³º the immediate impact of ‘Fury of the Storm‘ in º ³ ³º the opening of the performance. The fans are º ³ ³º responsive, the band are energetic and the sound º ³ ³º is perfect - there is really little more one º ³ ³º could ask for in a show. However when it comes º ³ ³º to DVD’s there is always one thing that can º ³ ³º really throw a show off, that being the camera º ³ ³º work. º ³ ³º º ³ ³º There are too many live performances filmed º ³ ³º where the cameramen have missed important º ³ ³º aspects of the show such as missed solos or º ³ ³º dramatic stage flair, and then edited poorly to º ³ ³º compensate for the fact that it was missed. This º ³ ³º is not the case with ‘In The Line of Fire‘. º ³ ³º Every flying solo from Herman Li and Sam Totman, º ³ ³º every sky-high jump from keyboardist Vadim º ³ ³º Pruzhanov, and the dramatic stage gestures of º ³ ³º vocalist Marc Hudson. º ³ ³º º ³ ³º The show is a good set list between new and old º ³ ³º with tracks like ‘Black Winter Night‘ and º ³ ³º ‘Seasons‘ really taking heed, along with the º ³ ³º tracks that diversify the standard Dragonforce º ³ ³º sound and pace such as ‘Symphony of the Night‘ º ³ ³º and ‘Three Hammers‘. The engaging stage antics º ³ ³º such as bassist Fred Leclerq’s actual ability to º ³ ³º string together some decent Japanese sentences º ³ ³º to the audience proves that the band hold Japan º ³ ³º dear, and vice-versa. º ³ ³º º ³ ³º ‘In The Line of Fire‘, looks good and sounds º ³ ³º great, and edited together almost like a musical º ³ ³º film with the interludes that dive into each of º ³ ³º the band member’s lives, it’s one of those live º ³ ³º DVD’s where you can actually sit through and not º ³ ³º realise and hour and a half.
