Û Û I will not make many, because they are very Û Û different musically, other than to say they share Û Û the PT initials, both were stated as solo Û Û projects, both became bands in order to tour for Û Û fans and both take a lot of time and effort in Û Û producing great albums. Û Û Musically, TPT should appeal to anyone who likes Û Û Radiohead, The Muse or Pink Floyd. The songs are Û Û well constructed, layered and melodic (often in a Û Û melancholic way). They vary from the 4-5 minute Û Û less progressive songs through to 15 minute Û Û wonders that build up and slow down like a roller Û Û coaster, taking you on a wonderful journey. Û Û This compilation is a great introduction - 2.5 Û Û hours of the very best of their first 7 albums. Û Û All songs have been lovingly remixed by Bruce Û Û Soord (founder, singer, guitarist, writer, Û Û producer and all round good egg) with help from Û Û Steve Kitch (keyboardist). The job has been done Û Û very well, as has the thought that has gone into Û Û the ordering of the songs - not the traditional Û Û chronological listing, but one that works as an Û Û album in its own right (so rare for compilations). Û Û The old albums are difficult to get these days Û Û following TPT's move to K-Scope from Cyclops, so Û Û this is a great introduction that will have you Û Û scouring eBay or Amazon to find the back Û Û catalogue. Warnings - some of the old albums are Û Û offered at obscene prices, that is how good and Û Û popular they justly are with a small (but growing) Û Û group of true band/music lovers. Not true prog, Û Û but truly progressive. Û Û Û Û --- Û Û Û Û Excellent compilation on 2 CDs, with long and Û Û short tracks, slow and fast songs. The Pineapple Û Û Thief has been compared to Porcupine Tree, Û Û Radiohead, etc. I saw them recently playing live, Û Û together with Riverside (october 2009). Û Û Unfortunately, The Pineapple Thief played only one Û Û hour, because they were considered as support for Û Û Riverside (double headline would be more Û Û appropriate). Although Riverside was also good, Û Û this evening I preferred The Pineapple Thief, as Û Û their music was more original in my opinion. Hope Û Û to see a full show soon! Although the songs for Û Û this compilation are remastered, this 2 CD set may Û Û not be a "must have" if you already own every Û Û studio album.
